WHAT WE DO 2019-20

Our PTA provides a variety of resources, raises money, and organizes events throughout the year benefiting Ensign students, parents, families, teachers, staff, and our wonderful community.

  • New Student Popsicle Party (Tuesday before the first day of school, 6:00 p.m.):  meet fellow incoming students and families on the kindergarten playground in front of the school.

  • Back to School Night (Thursday before the first day of school, usually 6:00-7:30 p.m.):  get acquainted with Ensign and all it has to offer, including teacher & class info, signups for volunteer opportunities at PTA events, Fall Fundraiser information, SCC and traffic committee info.

  • Boo Hoo/Yahoo Breakfast (after 8:35 a.m. drop-off on the first day of school): celebrate and cry (happy) tears as we return from summer break and enjoy a light breakfast with fellow Ensign parents.

  • PTA Meetings (monthly; dates/times vary, most often first Friday of each month, 11:30 am in the PTA Room): Join us!  Please visit our Meetings page for dates and times.  

  • Room Parent Opportunities (all year): get involved in your child’s classroom!

  • Ensign Apparel Sales (fall & spring): contract with a company to sell Ensign t-shirts and hoodies.

  • Teacher appreciation (all year): monthly teacher treats, plus a week-long springtime celebration of extra thanks for our wonderful teachers.

  • Fall Fundraiser (fall): solicit and collect donations for crucial PTA funding.

  • Fall Bash (September, 5:00-8:00 p.m.): a back-to-school carnival for all!  Lots of fun including bouncy houses, food trucks, and more.

  • School pictures, vision screenings & hearing screenings (throughout the year)

  • PTA Reflections Arts Program (fall): a student arts showcase.

  • Red Ribbon Week (October): drug prevention awareness campaign with special theme days (crazy sock day, pajama day, and more).

  • Halloween Pumpkin Parade (Halloween): share your carved masterpieces!

  • Veterans Program (November)

  • Cookies & Cocoa (November): read books together in the library while sharing cookies and cocoa.

  • Family Culture Night (December): families share their unique heritage in the library (formerly Night and the Library) 

  • Junior Achievement (JA) / Biztown (ongoing) Junior Achievement is a worldwide program that teaches students economic skills.

  • Annual Ensign Community Service Project (dates vary): past projects include holiday giving trees, toiletry kits for the homeless population, and others.  Visit the Books & Boots page to learn about this year's community service project. 

  • STEAM Fair (January): students exhibit their arts & science projects and family members are invited to volunteer as judges.

  • Talent Show (January): a talent showcase opportunity for all students.

  • Spelling Bee (February): the spelling bee is run by the school with the PTA providing volunteers and funding.

  • Write Your Heart Out (February): a fun family literacy night.  Writing activities are designed and hosted by Ensign teachers.  Funded by the PTA.

  • Spring Stomp (spring): a dance party for students and their families!  Featuring a DJ and treats.

  • Gallery Stroll (spring): annual school-wide spring art exhibition by all students, featuring a silent auction, food, and family activities.  A favorite yearly tradition at Ensign!  The PTA Arts Committee uses the money raised at this event to help create and fund the arts and music programs.

  • Kindergarten Orientation (May

  • Field Day (June): fun outdoor activities (relay races, bouncy houses, etc.) for students during the school day.  

  • Yearbook (June): yearbooks capturing fun memories are designed by the PTA and sold at cost.
